There are three main categories of Migraine medications:
- Preventive medications are taken daily to reduce the frequency and severity of Migraines.
- Abortive medications are taken when a Migraine occurs. They work to stop the Migrainous process, thus stopping the symptoms as well.
- Rescue medications are taken for a Migraine attack when abortive medications fail or can't be used.
